Akron Children's Hospital asks ill people to not visit patients

BOARDMAN — With seasonal RSV and influenza activity on the rise, Akron Children’s Hospital is asking people who are ill to not visit its Akron and Boardman Beeghly campuses.

Greeters are at all hospital entrances asking visitors about their health status.

“We are asking for the help of the public and our patient families to help stop the spread of the flu and protect all children in the community, including our patients,” said Dr. John Bower, a pediatric infectious disease specialist.

All visitors, including family members, should be healthy. Please do not visit patients if you are experiencing any of these symptoms: Fever, cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle aches, or chills, the hospital said in a news release.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes infections of the lungs and respiratory tract.
