Jennings hosts 'First Day' hike on Thursday

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.
Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, will offer a First Day Hike at 1 p.m. Thursday. The Jennings staff will lead the hike that will cover approximately 2 miles on Jennings’ longest trail, Oakwoods, traversing varied terrain and habitats, including the prairie, forest, and beaver meadow wetland.
The hike is moderately difficult. It is free, and registration is not required. The group will meet in the prairie trails area parking lot, and the hike will begin promptly at 1.
Dress for the weather, with sturdy, water-resistant footwear and layered clothing for comfort and warmth. Guests can take their own water bottle and/or snacks if desired.

First Day Hikes are sponsored by state park systems throughout the country to highlight the role of these parks in providing year-round recreation and promoting healthy lifestyles. On Jan. 1, 2014, hikes were offered in 20 of Pennsylvania’s state parks.
