Center will offer swimming lessons
SALEM
The Salem Community Center will host another session of the Red Cross Swim Lesson program beginning Jan. 10 and running every Saturday to Feb. 28.
Six levels are available, along with a Mommy and Me level for infants and their parent. The instructors are American Red Cross WSI certified with years of experience.
The cost is $70 for nonmembers and $55 for members. A multiple-child discount is available.

Get 10 free trees from foundation
NEBRASKA CITY, NEB.
Residents of Ohio can receive 10 free flowering trees by joining the Arbor Day Foundation any time during January.
By becoming a part of the nonprofit Arbor Day Foundation, new members will receive two Sargent crabapples, three American redbuds, two Washington hawthorns and three white flowering dogwoods.
The trees will be shipped postpaid at the right time for planting, between Feb. 1 and May 31, with enclosed planting instructions.
The 6- to 12-inch tall trees are guaranteed to grow or they will be replaced free of charge. Members will also receive a subscription to the Foundation’s bimonthly publication, Arbor Day, and “The Tree Book,” which includes information about tree planting and care.
To become a member of the Foundation and to receive the free trees, send a $10 contribution to Ten Free Flowering Trees, Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Avenue, Nebraska City, NE 68410, by January 31. Ohio residents also can join online at arborday.org/january.
Library to offer craft projects
LEETONIA
Every Saturday in January, families are welcome to bring their children to the Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St., for a “make it and take it craft” from 1 to 3 p.m.
Each week will be a different project and all supplies will be provided. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and no registration is necessary.
