Hilltop Elementary School students were rewarded with a few minutes of extra sleep given that they were permitted to wear their pajamas to school Dec. 5. Hilltop families purchased 160 books during the school’s annual Birthday Book Sale, allowing the students celebrate Pajama Day.

The Birthday Book Sale, sponsored by the school’s PTO, was offered during the two conference nights at the school. Carolyn Berardino served as chair of the Birthday Book Sale.

Students could choose a book from the library and the PTO would add a label with the student’s name, birthday and year the book was purchased. The students also gets to be the first one to check the book out from the library.

“We had a great response this year to the Birthday Book Sale and the sale is still going strong. Children are still picking out and purchasing books,” said Patti Hockensmith, Hilltop Elementary School and C.H. Campbell Elementary School and librarian/media specialist.

The students also took time to stop what they were doing building-wide to ‘cozy up with a good book’ and read for 15 minutes.
