A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Dec. 16

Theft: A woman reported a package containing various fruits and nuts missing after it had been delivered to her Myron Street residence.

Felonious assault: While conducting a welfare check at a Jacobs Road home, authorities charged 54-year-old Amato P. Zaccone Jr. of Jacobs, Hubbard, with felonious assault and domestic violence after an officer alleged having seen Zaccone trying to strangle a woman on a living-room couch before she further alleged he also had struck and punched her. The accuser was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for injuries that included bruises and brush burns to her face.

Dec. 17

Arrest: John A. Chiodo III, 38, who listed addresses in Pittsburgh and on Elmwood Drive, Hubbard, was arrested on warrants charging disorderly conduct, assault and telephone harassment.

Theft: A stop sign was stolen from near Palmetto and Acacia drives.

Theft: A woman reportedly stole a six-pack of a flavored alcoholic beverage from Save-a-Lot, 880 W. Liberty St.

Assault/harassment: A woman alleged her former boyfriend, 38, bit her cheek during an argument at a North Main Street business. The accuser also said she had received unwanted calls and text messages.

Drugs: Officers dealing with a vehicular accident in the 700 block of West Liberty Street charged Lori J. White of Stewart Avenue, Hubbard, with operating a vehicle impaired and possession of a controlled substance. The 50-year-old White had in a bottle a pill that did not match the others, a report said.

Dec. 18

Recovered property: A man found a wallet at a bank near West Liberty Street.

Dec. 19

Theft/criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 700 block of North Main Street was found with a broken window. A purse was stolen from the car.

Dec. 20

Arrest: A traffic stop near Princeton Avenue resulted in 25-year-old Jacob J. Kerola’s arrest. Kerola, of Jean Drive, Hubbard, faced a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

Dec. 21

Harassment: A Taylor Street man said his brother sent threatening text messages pertaining to Facebook posts.

LIBERTY

Dec. 16

Burglary: A woman told police that two men claiming to represent a water company tricked her into allowing them to enter her Fifth Avenue residence. Afterward, the woman reported noticing roughly $20,000 worth of jewelry and $500 missing.

Theft: Nicholas J. Lee of East Drive, Liberty, faced charges of theft and menacing after a manager with Cleveland Auto Wrecking Inc., 2700 Youngstown-Hubbard Road, alleged Lee had brought in 6 pounds of copper but tricked a worker into thinking it was 60 pounds, for which he was given about $159. Also, Lee threatened to punch the manager’s face when confronted, a report stated.

Dec. 17

Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail picked up 22-year-old Kejun Clay of Green Acres Drive, Liberty. He was wanted on two counts of failing to appear in court.

Drug paraphernalia: A traffic stop near Gypsy Lane resulted in a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia against 42-year-old Daniel E. Lavoie of Mitchell Road, West Middlesex, Pa. An item similar to a shoelace and common in heroin use was in Lavoie’s pocket, a report showed.

Arrest: Officers on Northgate Road pulled over and took into custody Monica S. Jackson, 21, of Applecrest Court, Boardman, who was wanted on a Youngstown warrant.

Fraud: A Chrysann Drive woman discovered two unauthorized charges to her debit card that had been made at a Columbus discount store and totaled about $176.

Arrest: Albert Barnette, 40, of Columbus, was arrested on an outstanding Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Dec. 18

Arrest: Officers were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to arrest 53-year-old Mildred M. Gaia of Hillcrest Avenue, Girard, on two outstanding Girard Municipal Court warrants.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered First Choice Communications, 3614 Belmont Ave., via a rear door and cut the phone lines before taking an undetermined number of iPhones and iPads, along with a safe deposit and other items.

Arrest: While answering a theft call at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, authorities took into custody Kevin J. Burch of Woodland Avenue, Campbell. Burch, 28, was wanted on a charge of failing to appear in court.

Dec. 19

Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue relinquished custody of 21-year-old Vanity V. Jones to township authorities. Jones, of Seneca Street, Youngstown, was wanted on a theft warrant.

Drugs: Suspicious activity in the 3100 block of Belmont Avenue caught officers’ attention before they charged 22-year-old Joshua P. Marshall of Bushnell-Campbell Road, Kinsman, with possession of heroin, drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. A brown powder consistent with suspected heroin, a torn bag with suspected drug residue and a spoon with burn marks common in drug use were found, police said.

Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail booked 29-year-old Priscilla D. Scott of Cleveland on an outstanding township warrant.

Dec. 20

Arrest: Pernell E. Holcomb, 26, was arrested during a traffic stop near East Liberty Street. The Cleveland man was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.

Arrest: Police near state Route 193 and Interstate 80 took into custody 34-year-old Shea V. Sanders of Pensacola, Fla., who was wanted on a felony warrant from Defiance County, Ohio, charging contempt of court.

Arrest: Authorities at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown arrested 36-year-old Dakari C. Hudson of Ford Avenue, Youngstown, on a township warrant charging theft.

Dec. 21

Theft: The front license plate was missing from a vehicle at a Belmont Avenue motel.

Arrest: Police in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive took 24-year-old Briyanna P. Littlejohn of North Bon Air Avenue, Youngstown, into custody. She was wanted on a city warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Theft: A $300 catalytic converter was removed from a car in the 1000 block of Academy Drive.

Theft: A Squires Court woman reported various postage stamps and a candle stolen from her residence, as well as flowers from her yard.

GIRARD

Dec. 18

Menacing: A North Avenue woman said an acquaintance has made harassing calls to her and was watching the accuser and another person she was with.

Theft: The front license plate was missing from a truck in the 100 block of West Howard Street.

Dec.19

Criminal mischief: Two inflatable Christmas decorations were damaged in a yard in the 50 block of Avon Avenue.

Bad check: An East Wilson Avenue woman reported having received a $985 check in the mail, with instructions to keep $200 of it and send the remainder to another address.

Theft: A woman reported a $200 gold pocket watch stolen from her elderly mother, of Iowa Avenue.

Dec.20

Recovered property: A set of keys and a wallet were found in the 300 block of Idaho Avenue.

Dec. 21

Arrest: The Ohio State Highway Patrol handed to Girard police 32-year-old Cruz B. Torres of Hamilton Street Southwest, Warren. Torres was wanted on a Girard warrant.

Assault: A Beechwood Drive man alleged a neighbor shoved him to the ground during an argument as part of ongoing problems between them.

Drugs: Officers investigating a suspicious vehicle in the 300 block of East Broadway Avenue handed 19-year-old Aaron W. Stapleton a minor-misdemeanor citation after alleging Stapleton, of Palmyra Road, Warren, admitted having suspected marijuana.

Arrests: Police conducting a traffic stop on U.S. Route 422 issued a minor-misdemeanor citation charging Monique Clinkscale, 42, of North Avenue, Girard, with marijuana possession after alleging having found 1.4 grams of suspected marijuana. Also, 43-year-old Damon L. Williams of Greeley Lane, Youngstown, faced a falsification charge when, authorities said, he provided a false name to avoid being arrested on a warrant.
