Warren woman ‘drenched’ in blood, boyfriend charged

WARREN

Keith E. Nelson, 48, of Dodge Street Northwest is in the Trumbull County jail without eligibility to make bond on a felonious-assault charge after police say he gave his 52-year-old girlfriend a serious head injury early Sunday at his home.

When police arrived at 5 a.m., they found the woman, of Warren, with blood on the right side of her head and face, her clothes “drenched” in blood, and blood in a puddle on the driveway and in a trail from the driveway to a wood pile.

A broken lamp was next to a clump of hair in the garage, police said.

The woman said Nelson attacked her in the driveway, grabbed her by the hair and punched her multiple times in the head with a closed fist.

She said her jaw and cheek felt broken. Ambulance personnel said she “clearly had a concussion,” police reported.

The woman was “in a daze,” talking normally, then asking why she was bleeding, then returning to her explanation of what happened, police said.

She was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Warren Hospital, then transferred to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

A judge in Warren Municipal Court entered a not-guilty plea for Nelson.

If convicted of felonious assault, Nelson could get eight years in prison.
