Youngstown man faces robbery charges in Boardman

BOARDMAN — A Youngstown man faces felony charges of robbery and breaking and entering after an incident at an office building in the township Saturday that led to a chase.

Police responded to the area of Shell gas station, 7598 Market St., where they found a male robbery suspect, later identified as Daniel Mavroudis, 52, at an area apartment complex after he was chased there by the victim.

According to a police report, a victim told officers that Mavroudis stole a few dollars in change and keys from the Mahoning County Educational Service Center, 100 DeBartolo Place, and that Mavroudis fled the building after the victim confronted him about the theft. The victim then pursued Mavroudis in his car and on foot.

During the chase, Mavroudis reportedly took a knife out of his pocket and threw it to the ground.

After police found and arrested Mavroudis for breaking and entering and robbery, other people in the DeBartolo Place office building reported damage to office doors. Mavroudis subsequently was charged with three counts of attempted breaking and entering, all misdemeanors.

Mavroudis was taken to the Mahoning County jail. He is scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court here Tuesday.
