Child is injured on school bus

HUBBARD

A Hubbard Elementary School girl got a black eye on the bus on her way to school Tuesday morning, a police report says.

The girl’s mother filed a complaint with police about the injury, which occurred when she hit her head on a window.

She said the school’s nurse called to tell her about her 7-year-old daughter’s bruised and swollen eye.

Her daughter and other children on the bus said the driver hit a couple of curbs and the girl hit her head on the window.

The woman told police the bus driver tried to say it was her daughter’s fault because she was not following rules, and that she “hit a bump.”

“The kids said she was just sitting there,” the woman told police.

Police told her to follow up with the school principal and the bus supervisor.

Schools Superintendent Raymond Soloman said he would not comment on whether the driver is still working.

“We’re working with the bus supervisor and building principal and following up on protocol that we have in place with the board of education and the union,” he said.
