Amazon extends shipping deadlines

NEW YORK

Amazon is courting last-minute holiday shoppers by extending its free-shipping deadline by one day to Friday.

Orders over $35 are eligible for free shipping. Last year’s deadline was Dec. 18. The e-commerce company said members of its $99 annual Prime loyalty program can order by Dec. 22 for two-day shipping.

One-day shipping for items ordered next Tuesday costs $2.99 and up for Amazon Prime members. And same-day delivery is available in 12 cities on items ordered by 10 a.m. local time for $5.99 per shipment.

Wal-Mart said last week its cutoff for orders with standard shipping to reach homes by Christmas is Friday.

Chrysler Group changes name

AUBURN HILLS, Mich.

Chrysler Group LLC has changed its name to FCA US LLC.

The change largely will be unnoticed by consumers, affecting mostly corporate and financial communications. Chrysler-branded cars will continue to bear the Chrysler badge, as those branded Fiat will bear the Fiat badge.

The move was part of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ renaming of its mass-market brands. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles becomes FCA Italy SpA.

Insurers ease premium deadline

WASHINGTON

Trying to head off a new round of consumer headaches with President Barack Obama’s health care law, the insurance industry said Tuesday it will give customers more time to pay their premiums for January.

America’s Health Insurance Plans, the main industry trade group, says the voluntary steps include a commitment to promptly refund any overpayments by consumers who switched plans and may have gotten double-billed by mistake.

Though the HealthCare.gov website is working far better this year, the industry announcement highlights behind-the-scenes technical issues between the government and insurers that have proved difficult to resolve.
