MCTA youth training center fete is Wednesday

BOARDMAN — The MCTA Youth Development Training Center’s 14th annual winter conference will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at The Georgetown banquet facility, 5945 South Ave.

Conference presenter will be local recording artist Joselyn Parker, a founder of the nonprofit organization S.P.E.A.K. (Silence Prevents Education And Knowledge), which promotes young people to use their words and break the cycle of silence she feels has been trying to kill this generation.

Everyone attending the conference is asked to donate a new, unwrapped toy or a household item to be donated to needy families at Beatitude House.

The group will also celebrate the accomplishments of its youth participants through awards for leadership, work readiness training, job shadowing, increasing basic skills and others.
