Home Savings hires branch manager

YOUNGSTOWN

The Home Savings and Loan Co. announced the hiring of Mike Scudier as senior branch manager for the Newport Glen and Kirk Road branches. Scudier brings with him more than 10 years of banking experience and most recently was employed with PNC Bank.

Scudier earned his bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University in 1990 and his master’s degree in business administration from Malone College in 2008. He lives in Youngstown with his wife and their two sons.

Brentwood park sells for $610,500

WARREN

Brentwood Mobile Manor, 4044 Evaline St. SE, sold at auction Saturday. Approximately nine registered bidders from as far away as San Diego, Calif., and New York City came to bid on the park. The high bid was placed by an investor from Columbus for $610,500. The park features 21.7 acres with 183 trailer pads and a permit from the state for up to 253 trailer pads. The park features city water and sanitation.

Ryan gets funds for research program

WASHINGTON

U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, secured $10 million in funding to create an additive manufacturing innovation research program based at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton.

The program will equip the Air Force with the technology and expertise to use 3-D printing and other emerging manufacturing techniques to fabricate low-volume replacement parts for weapons systems.

Ryan is a member of the House Defense Subcommittee on Appropriations. The $10 million was included in the recently passed Omnibus Appropriations bill, which is awaiting the president’s signature.

Gas prices down

COLUMBUS

Gas prices in Ohio are down once again to start this work week.

The state’s average price for a gallon of regular gas was $2.41 in Monday’s survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc. That’s down 19 cents from a week ago and more than 70 cents less than a year ago.

The national average Monday was $2.55, down 12 cents from a week ago. Last year at this time, the national average was $3.23.

Oil has fallen 47 percent since reaching a peak of $107 a barrel in June this year.
