Police surround 2nd home after Pa. shootings

SOUDERTON, Pa. (AP) — Police hunting for a man suspected of killing people at multiple homes surrounded houses in two different towns on Monday.

The man was suspected in as many as five deaths Monday morning at three different homes in Philadelphia’s northwest suburbs. Police with armored vehicles and rifles surrounded a home in Pennsburg after spending several hours at a home in nearby Souderton.

“We are searching for shooter,” Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman told The Associated Press in a text message.

She would not give additional details and would not confirm the number of dead. WPVI-TV reported that the man was suspected of killing a woman in Harleysville, two people in Lansdale and two more at the Souderton home.

Neighbors at the first shooting scene in Harleysville say they awoke around 4 a.m. to the sounds of breaking glass and gunshots.

One neighbor, Evon Weron, said the suspect is a former member of the military and that the first victim was his ex-wife. Weron told the Lansdale Reporter the couple had been fighting over custody.

Harleysville, Lansdale and Souderton are within a few miles of each other. Pennsburg is about 10 miles away.

Several school districts ordered students and teachers to shelter in place. The Souderton Area School District, citing police activity in Souderton and Harleysville, lifted the order after about two hours but said officials were monitoring the situation.
