Western Star Lodge installs Master

PETERSBURG

Shaun M. Laughlin of Petersburg was installed as worshipful master of Western Star Lodge 21, Free and Accepted Masons, in an open ceremony Dec. 5 at the Western Star Masonic Temple, 8387 Tod Ave., Boardman.

Installing officers were Salvadore A. Canale and G. Charles Wilkinson Sr. assisted by other past masters of Western Star Lodge and Russell W. Gillam Jr., district deputy grand master.

Also installed were J. Joseph Yaksich, senior warden; James A. Patrick Jr., junior warden; Thomas A. Kidd, treasurer; Tad C. Fithian, secretary; T.J. Perren, chaplain; William T. Adams, senior deacon; Salvadore A. Canale, junior deacon; Ray H. Huish, tyler; Robert K. Ellway, lodge education officer; and William T. Adams, three-year term trustee.

A formal dinner preceded the installation.

Western Star Lodge 21 continues to celebrate its 200th anniversary of its founding, Jan. 17, 1813, and being granted a charter by the Grand Lodge of Ohio on Jan. 4, 1816.

Charity is an important tenet of the Masonic fraternity. It supports college scholarships, Special Olympics summer games, training for Ohio school teachers to recognize students at non-academic risk, elderly care, and needy families and individuals.
