Hubbard | Football Larry Scott

Larry Scott — arguably one of the best to play in the Mahoning Valley — will always remember his years with the Hubbard Eagles.

“It was a great experience,” Scott said. “I will always remember my coaches and players that I was around. I will never forget the opportunity.”

The running back had an exceptional senior season recording 2,106 yards and 30 touchdowns.

He also played in the defensive backfield, where he had 21 tackles and four interceptions.

Scott earned many awards for his senior campaign. He won the Trumbull County Player of theYear, as well as the Associated Press Division III Co-Offensive Player of the Year. He was also a finalist for the Mr. Football award, given to the best player in Ohio.

“I just worked hard for all those awards,” Scott said.

Scott and the Eagles came up short in their ultimate goal of winning a state championship. The Eagles lost to Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary in the playoffs for the third year in a row.

“Honestly, that was tough,” Scott said. “That was a dog fight in my eyes.”

Even with 98 career touchdowns and 7,476 career rushing yards, there is one memory Scott will not forget.

“I think beating Poland was one of the best opportunities,” Scott said.

Scott is moving on to play college football at Michigan State for head coach Mark Dantonio and the Spartans.

“I know have to build up power and speed, but I want to be a game changer,” Scott said. “Running the rock is my thing.”

Scott wants to stay humble despite all the success and awards that have come his way.

“I just have to work my tail off, do great things and make a name for myself,” Scott said.

He also doesn’t want people to forget about him back home.

“I want to be remembered as a great football player, but also very respectful, humble and a good personality,” Scott said.
