NILES

The youth of New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave., will present a live Nativity from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 21.

Light refreshments will follow in fellowship hall. Donations of socks will be accepted for Niles Community Services.

Blue Christmas services

Two Valley churches plan Blue Christmas services designed to reach out to those who may have lost a loved one or experienced another kind of loss such as a broken relationship, health, job insecurity and the pain of isolation.

The service will include sharing prayers, Scripture and music.

Services are open to all.

First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Ridge, 3654 N. Main St., Mineral Ridge, will conduct a Blue Christmas service at 5 p.m. Dec. 21.

A Blue Christmas service will be at 3 p.m. Dec. 21 at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Road, Poland.

Seasonal music

LIBERTY

A Christmas choral concert presented by the Wade Raridon Singers will be at 4 p.m. Dec. 21 at Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Churchill- Hubbard Road, where the pastor is the Rev. Ken Kelley.

The singers featuring former students and graduates of the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University.

Dr. Wade Raridon, retired YSU professor of choral music, is director.

The choir will present seasonal music from Hassler and Mozart to Moses Hogan, including traditional English carols and “O Holy Night.”

A reception will follow.

There is no admission fee.

A free-will offering will be taken for the purchase of music for the choir.

Friends and Family

YOUNGSTOWN

Holiday Friends and Family Day will be observed at worship at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 21 at Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, 351 W. Rayen Ave.

There will be a Christmas give-away for children and dinner after the service.

Guest speaker will be the Rev. Edward Aarington of People’s Baptist Church in Canton.

35th annual Nativity

YOUNGSTOWN

Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, will present a live Nativity at 5:30, 6, 6:30 and 7 p.m. Dec. 21.

A soup and sandwich meal will be served continuously in Alber Hall throughout the presentation.

Church members in costume act out the story from the Angel Gabriel visiting Mary to the birth of Christ. The event will be staged in front of the church with live animals including a camel, cow and sheep.

Christmas sing-along

BOARDMAN

St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Drive, will host its second annual “Road to Bethlehem: A Christmas Carol Sing-Along” of traditional and spiritual songs at 6 p.m. Dec. 21 in Father Haidet Social Hall. Edelweiss Woodwind Quartet and St. Charles Hand Bell Choir will perform.

A social with refreshments will follow.

Taiz prayer service

WARREN

Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE, will conduct a Taiz prayer service around the cross at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 21. It will include singing, psalms, Scripture reading, intercessory prayer and silence.
