‘The Empty Hook’ author at museum

YOUNGSTOWN

Joe Dragovich, author of the children’s book “The Empty Hook,” will speak about the book at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s Carriage House, behind the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave. The Canfield man’s lecture is part of the museum’s Memories of Christmas Past exhibition and is included with the price of admission.

Holiday concert will be rebroadcast

YOUNGSTOWN

The Dana Holiday Concert performed Dec. 3 at Stambaugh Auditorium will be rebroadcast in its entirety on Armstrong Cable channels 20 and 100 several times next week. Rookery Radio, Youngstown State University’s student Internet radio station, will webcast at 7 p.m. Wednesday and at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Christmas Day. The concert can also be seen on YouTube on the Light the Wick YSU channel, where it will be archived.

The concert featured selections from Handel’s “Messiah” and “Three Holiday Songs” from the film “Home Alone” by John Williams, plus other holiday standards performed by Dana School of Music ensembles and soloists.

Messiah selections were performed by the Dana Symphonic Choir, Stambaugh Chorus and Dana Symphony Orchestra with guest soloists Misook Yun, soprano and Thomas Scurich, bass. The Boardman High School Chorale, directed by Linda Smrek, was the guest.
