Mayor appoints T. Sharon Woodberry as director community planning
YOUNGSTOWN — Mayor John A. McNally is promoting T. Sharon Woodberry to director of community planning and economic development department, effective Jan. 1.
McNally touted Woodberry’s experience as the city’s economic development director for the past seven years in an announcement today about her promotion.
Her appointment is contingent on city council officially creating the position and approving the salary. That is expected at council's next meeting on Wednesday.
Her annual salary would be $79,102. She makes $68,889 annually in her current job.
City voters approved a charter amendment last month to combine the city’s economic development and community development agency. The issue passed with 64.6 percent of the vote.
The new department will focus on improving the neighborhoods and main corridors while continuing to work to attract and expand businesses in the city, McNally said.
Woodberry will oversee a staff of 10 to 12 people. The mayor doesn’t expect to hire someone to replace Woodberry as economic development director.
