What: Join the OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers to honor veterans during the holiday season as part of the annual Wreaths Across America Day. Fresh spruce wreaths will be laid on the graves of all veterans at these cemeteries.

Where: 10 a.m., Poland’s Old Church Graveyard, 2 Poland Manor, Poland; 11:15 a.m., Cornersburg Cemetery, 3898 Tippecanoe Road, Youngstown.

Natural Holiday Workshop

When: 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday.

What: Children age 7-12 will create holiday crafts using nature’s gifts to create festive decorations.

Where: Pioneer Pavilion, Mill Creek MetroParks

WINTER NIGHTS

When: 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 14, 21, 28

What: Enjoy the festivities of Winter Celebration and stroll in Fellows Riverside Gardens for an expanded light display. Share and bring a nonperishable food item for the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.

Where: Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave., Youngstown.

GROWING MICROGREENS

When: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday

What: Learn to grow microgreens for direct sales to consumers and restaurants.

Where: Iron Roots Urban Farm, in the Mercy Health Kitchen, 822 Billingsgate Ave. (around the corner from 820 Canfield Road), Youngstown.

WREATH OF GREENS

When: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 16

What: Create your own holiday wreath of greens with instructor Pam Baytos. Adorn your entrance with fresh greens and seasonal colors.

Where: Fellows Riverside Gardens

WINTER SONGBIRDS

When: 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 16

What: For children age 5-7. Learn about songbirds that stay North for the winter, especially cardinals. Create your own bird inspired mini-sculpture as we discuss different types of sculpture and building techniques.

Where: Ford Nature Center, 840 Old Furnace Road, Youngstown.

Cost: $5 for city residents; $6 for nonresidents. Register and pay at center by Sunday.

WINTER CELEBRATION

When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays through Jan. 4.

What: See the area’s premier holiday plant display along Gingerbread Lane and Delphiniums Gingerbread Shoppe, the children’s bakery at the Davis Center in Fellows Riverside Gardens. Closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
