Valley auto sales up 1.6 percent in November

Local auto sales were up by 1.6 percent in November from last year.
There were 5,027 new and used automobiles sold last month, compared with 4,950 sold in November 2013, according to Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio.
Local auto sales did better this year than last, with 68,174 sold so far this year, compared with 65,239 sold last year — a 4.5 percent increase.
While Greenwood Chevrolet was the top dealer in the Mahoning Valley with 205 new and used cars sold last month, the dealership was down 13.9 percent from November 2013. Sweeney Chevrolet came in second with 189 vehicles sold compared with 143 sold last year — a 32.2 percent increase.
Taylor Kia dealership came in third with 173 sold last month.
The Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze was the top new model last month with 155 vehicles sold, a 9.9 percent increase from 141 sold last year. The Cruze has sold better this year than last, with 2,318 sold so far this year compared with 1,579 last year — an increase of 739.
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 came in second with 95 sold last month compared with 44 sold in November 2013.
The Ford F-150 came in third with 73 vehicles sold last month.
