Mistrial declared

Mistrial declared

YOUNGSTOWN

A mistrial has been declared by Judge Maureen Sweeney for a man who was to stand trial in two murders in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Judge Sweeney issued her declaration Tuesday when there were no alternate jurors available after a pool of 12 was picked to hear the cases against 22-year-old Frankie Hudson. A new panel will be summoned for selection today.

Hudson faces charges of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery in the Dec. 14, 2010, killing of 44-year-old Christopher Weston of Lordstown at an Overland Avenue market, and the Sept. 16, 2011, death of Josh Davis, 17, of Willis Avenue.

Hudson already is serving a prison sentence after pleading guilty to belonging to the H Block street gang on the South Side.

A co-defendant in the Davis case already has been tried and convicted.

Public indecency

WARREN

John C. Hunter, 27, of Elm Street, Youngstown, was charged with public indecency Monday afternoon after a woman used her cellphone to record the man exposing himself at the main branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library.

The woman, also of Youngstown, said she was in the adult computer area when Hunter walked in and toward her about 2:35 p.m.

She moved away because she did not want to be near anyone, but when she walked away, Hunter followed her and sat down at a table next to her. She began to record him on her cellphone in case something happened, she said.

That’s when he exposed himself, she said. She informed library staff of the incident, and police found Hunter near the Trumbull County Courthouse and took him back to the library for identification.
