Lawrence Co. Treasurer's office announces payment policy

NEW CASTLE, PA. — The Lawrence County Treasurer’s office will not be accepting any personal checks at the counter or postmarked on or after Monday for the current year taxes.

Going forward for the 2015 year, personal checks will be accepted.

The treasurer’s office will accept cash, money orders, cashier’s checks or Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards.

In an effort to save the county costs associated with credit card tax payments, a third party convenience fee for all credit card transactions will be applied at 2.45 percent.

Any property taxes not paid by Dec. 31 will be filed with the Tax Claim Bureau and the owner will incur additional costs.
