A woman who was once named one of the world’s 100 most powerful women in business by Forbes will be the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber’s ATHENA Award dinner speaker next year.

Beth E. Mooney, chairman and chief executive officer for KeyCorp, will speak at the May 28th event that honors top professional women of the Mahoning Valley.

Cleveland-based KeyCorp is one of the nation’s largest bank-based financial services companies, with assets of approximately $89.8 billion, according to its website. The 23rd annual ATHENA event is co-sponsored by The Vindicator/vindy.com.

Mooney is a 1977 graduate of the University of Texas. She has her Master of Business Administration degree from Southern Methodist University.

In addition to her recognition from Forbes, Mooney also was selected as the No. 1 most powerful woman in banking by American Banker Magazine, and she also was recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of the top 50 most-powerful women in business.

The program will include a presentation of the ATHENA Scholarship to a female student planning to attend or currently enrolled at Youngstown State University, a local Kent State University branch or Eastern Gateway Community College.
