Report: Cheerleader collapses, Ursuline game postponed

YOUNGSTOWN — Tonight's Massillon Perry-Ursuline boys basketball game was postponed after an Irish cheerleader collapsed during the national anthem.

Vindicator correspondent Greg Gulas reported that bystanders performed CPR on the girl, who was then treated by paramedics and removed from the Ursuline gymnasium on a stretcher and taken to a hospital.

Ursuline head coach Keith Gunther said a prayer over the PA system and both basketball teams were sent to their respective locker rooms.

Minutes later, according to Gulas, Ursuline athletic director Sean Durkin announced that the game was postponed.
