Regular letter writer offers 2 quotes to remember him by

This will be my last letter to the editor in hopes of publication. I want to thank all the kind people with their kind words about my previous letters. This letter will sum up all the things I was trying to put into my previous letters.

Quote 1: On Nov. 3, 1929, Robert Ripley wrote the following quote in a cartoon: “Believe it or not, America does not have a National Anthem.” The standing President of the time, Herbert Hoover, decided he would change that situation.

Quote 2: This is my quote to end my letters: “Believe it or not, America has no morals, integrity, honesty, justice, or love of God and country as it goes around with no respect for human life or marriage. It also goes around in a dream world that will end either in their lifetime, or certainly at the end of it.”

End of quote and my letters. Thank you.

First Youngstown Music Awards succeeded with help from many

On Nov. 30, the Youngstown Music Awards held its very first awards show at Rodeo Music Hall in Austintown. The purpose of this annual event was to recognize the talented musicians/entertainers Youngstown has to offer.

The Youngstown Music Awards chose the Creative Bridge Coalition as the charity to benefit from the event. The Creative Bridge Coalition was created by education and music industry veterans to bring music into the lives of children with special needs.

Our event was attended by well known local music veterans, representatives of around 60 local bands, a solid group of about 15 volunteers to program and run the “awards style show,” and a great group of local music fans. On behalf of the organization, I just wanted to say “thank you” to all individuals who helped to make the night a huge success. Thank you to the volunteers, the presenters, the media, the bands, our sponsors, which are made up of local businesses, Rodeo Music Hall and their great hard working staff. All groups took a lot of personal pride and joy in the event. If not for the aforementioned, this event would not have been such a success.

Again, thank you to everyone.
