Software company’s growth leads to expansion

A local software company is taking a big step to handle its growth over the past couple of years by buying a 15,000-square-foot headquarters.
Cogistix LLC, currently at 755 Boardman-Canfield Road, is expected to move to its new headquarters at 7680 Market St. in February.
“It is going to be exciting for several reasons,” said Staci Lombardo, marketing specialist for the company, which employs more than 30.
The new headquarters will enable Cogistix to handle its continuing expansion and help its customers with training classes.
Cogistix distributes software called SYSPRO ERP, which handles functions for manufacturing companies including production, inventory control, financial needs, scheduling and purchasing. The company also develops its own add-ons.
Cogistix consultants have been implementing ERP software for the manufacturing community for more than 15 years.
Jeff Byce, auctioneer, appraiser and real-estate broker who represented Cogistix in the buying, said he helped the company search for property for about a year.
“It is unusual to get a big white-collar software company,” Byce said.
The new building for the company sits on nearly 2 acres and was built in 1971 with a major addition in the 1980s. It used to house Hill Barth & King LLC’s Boardman office. In June, the tax, accounting, assurance and business-consulting-service company announced the relocation of its Youngstown, Boardman and Howland offices into one location in Canfield.
The former Hill Barth & King location was listed at $1.2 million.
“We are thrilled to purchase the former Hill, Barth & King building,” said Kevin Miller, founder and director of technical services for Cogistix. “Since we were founded in 2009, we have grown immensely and have outgrown our current offices. This new space will provide a great, central location for us with vast opportunities for growth.”
