Warren police have charged Tedy Mendez, 24, who listed addresses in Warren and Youngs-town, with felonious assault in connection to injuries suffered by his 4-year-old daughter.
Mendez will be arraigned today in connection with an incident that involved his daughter’s being taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital on Sunday afternoon with multiple bruises to both sides of her face, arms and elbows, and her entire back side, and minor bruising to her legs, police said.
Thrown at school bus
WARREN
Investigators believe someone threw a rock at a school bus as it traveled on Atlantic Street near Vine Street Northeast at 7:02 a.m. Monday.
The window received a tennis-ball sized hole, but the student sitting in the seat next to the window was not injured, nor were any of the other nine children or the bus driver, police said.
Another child on the other side of the bus reported seeing someone in the 200 block of Atlantic Street on the other side of the bus with something in his or her hands, but the student couldn’t describe what the person was holding. The person was wearing black clothing, the student said.
The student said he heard a “pop” sound as the bus traveled past the person. There was no damage inside the bus, so detectives believe the driver’s initial belief that the sound and damage came from gunfire was incorrect, police said.
Homicide charges
ELLWOOD CITY, PA.
Homicide charges were filed Monday afternoon against the ex-wife of the victim of a fatal beating and against her son, Pennsylvania State Police said.
Lisa Marie Jones-Orock, 40, and her son, Zachary Jones, 22, both of Ellwood City, were arrested in the death of Gerald Lee Orock Jr., 57, of Fombell, Pa., who was found at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, lying in the parking lot of Loccisano’s Golden Dawn.
The suspects lured the victim to that location and attacked him with a wooden club after a long-running domestic dispute, police said.
