Warren police investigate bus window vandalism
WARREN — Investigators believe someone threw a rock at a school bus as it traveled on Atlantic Street near Vine Street Northeast at 7:02 a.m. today.
The window received a tennis-ball sized hole, but the student sitting in the seat next to it was not injured, nor were any of the other nine children or the bus driver, police said.
Another child on the other side of the bus reported seeing someone in the 200 block of Atlantic Street on the other side of the bus with something in his or her hands, but the student couldn’t describe what the person was holding. The person was wearing all black clothing, the student said.
The student said he heard a “pop” sound as the bus traveled past the person. There was no damage inside the bus, so detectives believe the driver’s initial belief that the sound and damage came from gunfire was not correct, police said.
