Felonious assault reported in Y’town

YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested Aurora Black, 49, of the 200 block of Jefferson Street on a charge of felonious assault after an incident about 4 p.m. Saturday. Black wanted to evict a tenant, and police told her there was a procedure to do so. She assaulted the tenant by pushing him down the cellar stairs and waving a knife at him, a police report said. The victim went to a hospital on his own.

Black was taken to the Mahoning County jail. No court date was given.

S. Side drug arrest

YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested Thomas D. Brannigan, 36, of Youngstown on charges of possession of drugs-heroin and tampering with evidence after an incident at 9 p.m. Saturday. Police on routine patrol saw Brannigan’s vehicle disregard a red light at Hillman Street and West Indianola Avenue. The car stopped in the intersection, blocking east and west traffic.

When police pursued the car, Branigan stopped. A police report noted Brannigan and a passenger seemed nervous. A police dog alerted police to a large bag of suspected heroin in the driver’s side carpet.

Brannigan, who has a Florida driver’s license, was taken to the Mahoning County jail. No court date was given.

Area Boy Scouts to receive Peace Light

WARREN

Greater Western Reserve Council Boy Scouts of America, 4930 Enterprise Drive NW, will receive the Peace Light at about 2 p.m. Friday.

The light began the journey to the United States on Nov. 24. It comes from 15 oil lamps in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, where it has burned continuously for more than 1,000 years.

The Peace Light will be available for sharing Saturday to Dec. 23 at Scouting headquarters, which is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays. Call the Scout office for information at 330-898-8474.
