Chamber will host webinar, Q-and-A

Youngstown

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will host an hourlong free webinar, “Hurricanes, Tornadoes, and Blizzards: Weatherproof Your Office Year-Round With a Good Inclement Weather Policy,” at noon Thursday.

Viewers will learn what makes a good inclement-weather policy and what it takes to put those policies into effect. There will be a Q-and-A session. To register, go to www.regionalchamber.com.

Southern Park plans Caring Santa event

Southern Park Mall will host its Caring Santa event today from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The event is dedicated to families that have children with special needs and offers a calm environment for the Simon Santa Photo Experience.

The Santa Set is located in front of J.C. Penney and may be accessed through the Chick-fil-A entrance Sunday morning.

Southern Park Mall also will be offering extended shopping hours and customer amenities, all designed to make shopping more convenient and enjoyable this holiday season.

Nominations sought for area honorees

COLUMBIANA

The Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce has recognized individuals, groups and businesses by awarding those who have made a positive difference in the community, have exemplified excellence in their field, or have contributed to the betterment of the Columbiana area. Nominations of those deserving such recognition for their achievement and contributions are needed.

Criteria for nominations and forms can be found at the Chamber, 328 N. Main St., and at www.columbianachamber.com.

The deadline for nominations is Jan. 23. Honorees will be awarded at the 62nd annual Awards Banquet at the Dutch Village Inn, 150 state Route 14, on Feb. 22. Banquet reservations can be made by calling the chamber office at 330-482-3822.

2014 builders report

The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania released its reports for fiscal year 2014 at its 45th annual meeting Wednesday night at the Youngstown Country Club. Reported man hours for the year were at 3.1 million, down from nearly 3.4 million the previous year. Total dollar volume of building and nonbuilding construction projects was $320 million in fiscal 2014, compared with $550.1 million in 2013.
