Choffin collecting for Humane Society

Choffin Career and Technical Center, 200 E. Wood St., is collecting donations for the Animal Charity Humane Society.
Everything from food to blankets to disinfectant will help keep the shelter’s furry residents happy and healthy. Monetary donations are tax-deductible and can be cash, check or money order made payable to Animal Charity, 4140 Market St., Boardman. Donations will be collected at the school through Dec. 17.
Vets office to close Friday for training

The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission office in Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave., Suite 100, will close Friday for training.
Engineering pact
YOUNGSTOWN
Mahoning County commissioners have approved a $36,900 agreement with CT Consultants Inc. of Youngstown for engineering services for a 4,500-foot connecting pipe to be installed along Bailey Road next year between the Lords-town water-supply system and the Mahoning County system that serves Jackson and Milton townships and Craig Beach.
That connection will allow Lordstown to become a backup water supply for the Mahoning County system, if needed, said Bill Coleman, office manager in the county sanitary engineer’s office.
Grief workshop open to all

The Grief Ministry of New Bethel Baptist Church will present a Holiday Grief Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 13 at the church, 1507 Hillman St.
The speaker will be Karen Lewis LSW, bereavement facilitator at Hospice of the Valley, who will address ways to cope during the holidays and “special days” as well as other grief-related topics. Helpful information including handouts will be provided.
