Weekend events at museum exhibit

YOUNGSTOWN

The Arms Family Museum will offer two special events this weekend as part of its “Memories of Christmas Past” exhibition.

On Saturday, children and adults can participate in an ornament-making workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Mahoning Valley Historical Society Carriage House, behind the museum, 648 Wick Ave. From 1 to 3 p.m. that day, the Snow Queen will visit the museum’s hands-on room and be available for photos. Both events are included with museum admission.

On Sunday at 2 p.m., author and historian George Johnson will speak on the 1914 Christmas Truce during World War I.

Tuba Christmas at mall expo center

More than 100 tuba and euphonium players will perform at the 16th annual TubaChristmas concert at noon Saturday at Eastwood Expo Center, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road.

The first TubaChristmas was Dec. 22, 1974, at Rockefeller Plaza in New York, and the events now take place around the world.

Traditional Christmas music will be performed at the Eastwood event.
