Police have charged an 18-year-old Braceville Township man in the death of his 18-year-old purported accomplice in a Nov. 22 Starlite Drive Northwest home invasion.
Peighton E. Bishop, of state Route 534, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to involuntary manslaughter, aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery.
Magistrate Jami Bishop set bond at $200,000. Peighton Bishop was arrested Wednesday at his home after a secret indictment by a county grand jury.
Police say Peighton Bishop and Trent Hall, 18, of Braceville Robinson Road in Braceville Township and an unnamed juvenile broke into the home of Benjamin Talanca, 29, of Starlite Drive at 10:30 p.m.
In the scuffle that ensued, Talanca shot and killed Hall. Talanca suffered a severe laceration to the head as a result of the intruders using a blunt object on him, police said.
The juvenile has not yet been charged.
The charges against Bishop are much like the charges and conviction of several people participating in an attempted burglary of a home in Niles in July 3013 in which the homeowner shot and killed one of the burglars.
