After dreaming for many years of owning her own boutique, Deloran Muransky realized her dream with the opening of her new business, Ivory & Birch, located at 7631 Market Street in Boardman.
The business had a soft opening for friends and family on Oct. 26 before its grand opening on Oct. 29.
“I have worked in retail my whole career and have also dreamed of opening a boutique for as long as I can remember,” she said of why she wanted to start her own business. “I have an entrepreneurial family and was always supported and encouraged to follow my dreams. My dad had vacant space available in a new development of his, and the timing just seemed right.”
Muransky worked for Kohl’s Department store in buying, planning, merchandising and product development for 4 1/2 years.
She then spent 3 1/2 years in Milwaukee at the corporate headquarters and one year in New York City at their design studio.
Ivory & Birch has a 3,000-square-foot selling floor with varied items such as clothing, jewelry, home goods [blankets, candles, frames, trays, vases, bowls], greeting cards, stationary and fashion accessories [purses, scarves, wallets] all spanning a wide price point range.
Muransky said business has been going well in the short time it has been open.
“It has been good,” said Muransky, a 2005 graduate of Poland Seminary High School. “I think a lot of people are still popping in to learn what and who we are, but we have had a really amazing response to a lot of our brands and merchandise. I expect business to pick up as we gain brand name recognition and as we get closer to the holidays.”
Muransky said she has grand plans for Ivory & Birch in the near future.
“First and foremost, I want to make this first location a destination boutique for our entire area of Northeast Ohio,” she said. “Within the next six months to a year, I want to get an e-commerce site out there. Down the road, I’d love to continue to open more and more locations. The sky is the limit.”
Ivory & Birch is now open Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and it is closed on Sundays.
