Fire strikes Austintown business
AUSTINTOWN
An early morning fire at a township business today resulted in about $600,000 worth of damage, fire department officials said.
Township firefighters responded to a fire at the Austintown Metal Works building at 45 Victoria Road at about 4 a.m. today.
The response to the blaze shut down the road for about two hours, because the water used to extinguish the fire created icy conditions, fire officials said.
Fire department officials said no one was in the building at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
About $600,000 worth of damage to the building, equipment and vehicles, mostly due to smoke and heat, was reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
