Parole officer bit by dog in Liberty
LIBERTY
A parole officer reported he was attacked by a dog at a Fifth Avenue residence.
The attack occurred while he was doing a "placement check" around 3 p.m. Wednesday, he told police.
He was attacked at the door by the dog, a pit-bull mix, which grabbed his ankle and knocked him down. He eventually made it to his car while the homeowner hid behind the door, he told police.
Police went to the house, and the homeowner told them the dog belongs to her son, who is staying with her since he was released from prison.
She said the dog just wanted to smell the parole officer at the door, but he fell and the dog got excited.
She had no license or proof of shots for the dog. She didn't want to give it to the dog warden, who told her it had to be restrained in the residence.
The parole officer sustained minor injuries, the report said.
