When: Today, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
What: Discover myths, legends and fun facts about many popular holiday plants, including poinsettia, mistletoe, amaryllis. Ellen Speicher will share some unique stories and tips on caring for them. Each participant will receive a poinsettia to take home.

Footprints in the Snow
When: Friday or Saturday, 10 to 11 a.m.
What: Although we may not always be able see animals, we can still see signs that they were there. We will be forest detectives and investigate animal tracks through fun activities.
Where: Ford Nature Center, 840 Old Furnace Road, Youngstown.

WINTER CELEBRATION: GINGERBREAD GARDEN
When: Tuesdays-Sundays, Saturday-Jan. 4, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
What: The area’s premier holiday plant display along Gingerbread Lane; Delphinium’s Gingerbread Shoppe — the children’s bakery; 46-plus trees decorated by local nonprofits.

Level 1 Food Safety Training

Natural Holiday Workshop

Growing Microgreens

Darling Deer
When: Next Thursday, 10-11 a.m. or Dec. 13, noon to 1 p.m.
What: Deer have hooved feet, slender bodies and long, thin legs, but can run up to 40 miles per hour and jump 9-foot fences. Kids will learn about white-tailed deer through story, crafts and activities.
