The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods was named the winner of two Press Ganey awards, the hospital announced Tuesday.

Southwoods received the Press Ganey Beacon of Excellence Award and the Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award. Press Ganey is a nationally recognized rating service for health care providers that reviews more than 10,000 facilities.

β€œI was very proud,” said Ed Muransky, chief executive officer of Southwoods. β€œIt shows when you set goals as a facility that the sky is truly the limit.”

Southwoods is a partially physician-owned, acute-care facility that provides outpatient and inpatient surgical services. Southwoods also provides a variety of ancillary health services at separate locations from its hospital, such as Southwoods Imaging, Southwoods Sleep centers, Southwoods Pain Management and Southwoods Physician Services.

The Press Ganey Beacon of Excellence Award is awarded to the top three health care organizations nationally for achievement. This award recognized Southwoods for high levels of excellence in patient care. This award is only presented to the health care providers who have maintained three-consecutive years of high performance.

The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a symbol of achievement in the health care industry. Less than 5 percent of Press Ganey clients reach this level of excellence and maintain it for a year. Southwoods has maintained it for five-consecutive years.

All Guardian recipients are within the 95th percentile of demonstrated performance in patient satisfaction.
