Frank Hierro has joined the Home Savings and Loan Co., wholly owned by United Community Financial Corp., as its Mahoning Valley regional president, the bank announced Monday.

Hierro recently retired from an executive position at Huntington Bank. He was unavailable to comment on his new position.

Hierro will bring 30 years of team-development experience to grow customer relationships, Home Savings said in a release.

“We are so pleased to welcome Frank to Home Savings,” said Gary Small, president and CEO of Home Savings. “He joins the bank at an important time as we begin to execute our strategies to grow, particularly in commercial and small-business lending. His leadership, business development skills and knowledge of the market will greatly enhance our ability to serve the Mahoning Valley.”

He is on the boards of the Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corp., the Youngstown Business Incubator, Youngstown Central Area Community Improvement Corp. and the YSU Foundation.

He is a graduate of YSU with a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics.

William C. Shivers took over Hierro’s executive position at Huntington in mid-November.
