HELP FOR HOMELESS

HELP FOR HOMELESS

The goal of Monday’s seventh annual Homeless Walk was to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless in the Mahoning Valley. It also kicked off the 25th year for Help Hotline Crisis Center’s Cold Weather Emergency Shelter Program, which runs from Dec. 1 to March 31, 2015.

The Dorothy Day House of Hospitality, 620 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, serves dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; offers a place to relax, but no overnight stay. Free showers from 3 to 4:45 p.m. Tuesdays. No daytime shelter for men. Call 330-743-1409 or visit www.youngstowncatholicworker.com. People who have no place to stay, primarily between 9 p.m. and 7:30 a.m., can call the Help Hotline Crisis Center at 211 or 1-800-427-3606.

Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley is the primary shelter in Mahoning County for men, women, families and children. Call 330-744-5485.
