Walk designed to raise awareness of homelessness
YOUNGSTOWN
The primary goal of today’s seventh annual Homeless Walk is to raise awareness of the plight of homeless individuals and families in the Mahoning Valley.
The Homeless Walk, from the St. Vincent De Paul Society Dining Hall on Front Street to the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, also kicks off the 25th year for Help Hotline Crisis Center’s Cold Weather Emergency Shelter Program, which runs from Dec. 1 to March 31, 2015.
People who have no place to stay, primarily between 9 p.m. and 7:30 a.m., can get help through Help Hotline by dialing 211 or 1-800-427-3606.
