Armed robber hits Flying J truck stop

A man robbed a service station at a township truck stop Saturday night.
Flying J Travel Plaza, 2226 N. Main St., was robbed by a bearded man with a gun at 9:07 p.m. Saturday.
Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office officials, who handle Hubbard Township calls at night, said there were no arrests as of Sunday night in the case.
Officials also said it was unknown how much money was taken.
Students from Dana to serve ‘Carols & Cocoa’ at Stambaugh

The Dana School of Music will present its annual holiday music extravaganza, Carols & Cocoa and Dana Holiday Concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Stambaugh Auditorium.
Carols & Cocoa will be performed in Stambaugh’s Ballroom and will feature seasonal favorites, culminating in a holiday sing-along. Dana students bring cookies to share, and complimentary cocoa will be available. After a brief intermission, guests are invited upstairs to the Concert Hall where the Dana Holiday Concert will be presented featuring selections from Handel’s “Messiah” and “Three Holiday Songs” from “Home Alone” by John Williams, plus other holiday standards performed by Dana ensembles and soloists.
Tickets, which are all general admission, may be purchased in advance at the Stambaugh Auditorium Box Office in person or by phone at 330-259-0555; or online at www.stambaughauditorium.com. Tickets will also be available that evening.
Ticket prices are $10 for adults; $5 for students from other schools and senior citizens; and free for children under 12 and YSU faculty, staff and students with a valid YSU ID.
Winter skywatch

The Ward Beecher Planetarium at Youngstown State University will present a winter skywatch program to the public at 8 p.m. Friday. The constellation of Orion and all the stars that surround it will be featured. Doors open at 7:30 for the free show.
Vigil in Warren

More than 100 people gathered Sunday night to remember a Warren man who was stabbed to death nearly two weeks ago, 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, reports.
At least 125 people lighted candles near Donald Giovannone’s home on Atlantic Street. The 71-year-old was found stabbed to death inside his home Nov. 20.
He was known by everyone as “Gio,” WFMJ reported.
His sister, Judy Gensberg said, “Gio was the type of guy that no matter where he went, he made a friend.”
Marcus Honsaker, 26, is in the Trumbull County Jail, charged in Gio’s death.
He is expected to be in court this week.
