Firestone Park sets homecoming race

COLUMBIANA

The Firestone Park Homecoming 5K Race will take place beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday on the “Vision for Veterans” course at the park, 347 E. Park Ave., to benefit the R.R. and B.’s Firestone Park Restoration Project.

The race will be scored individually as well as cross-country-style for teams of five or more.

Online registration can be found at www.SandBFoundation.org, or early registration and packet pickup will be available from 3 to 7 p.m. the evening before the race at The Dutch Village Inn and again on the morning of the race from 6 to 7:30 a.m. at Pavilion No. 1-East.

The Awards ceremony will take place immediately after the race at Pavilion No. 1.

Quarter auction to aid cancer fund

YOUNGSTOWN

Ohio State University football memorabilia will be among prizes offered at a quarter auction Sept. 18 to benefit the Urban and Shelley Meyer Fund for Cancer Research.

The fundraiser, spearheaded by Warren members of the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer, will take place at the Youngstown Saxon Club, 710 Meridian Road.

Doors open at 5 p.m., and the auction starts at 6.

Tickets are $5 and include soft drinks, snack, a bidding paddle and a door prize ticket.

There will be more than 80 prizes, gift baskets and door prizes.

Leadership event planned at YWCA

YOUNGSTOWN

YWCA of Youngstown, 25 W. Rayen Ave., will host the 7th annual Women’s Leadership Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 26.

The cost is $35 per person and $20 for full-time students with valid I.D. or $200 for groups of eight (they must register together).

The fee includes continental breakfast and lunch.

The deadline to register is Sept. 19.
