Yvonne Ford is installed to lead Juniors for GFWC

Yvonne Ford of Poland was installed as the Ohio director of Junior Clubs for the General Federation of Women’s Clubs in June at the close of the International GFWC Convention in Phoenix.

She will serve in the elected position for the 2014-2016 administration under GFWC International President Babs Condon.

Ford has been a member of the Boardman-Poland Junior Women’s League since 2002. During that time she has served as president, second vice president and first vice president in charge of membership, among other positions.

She has chaired and co-chaired many of the BPJWL’s fundraisers and served as an adviser to the Juniorettes for eight years. Her present position is corresponding secretary.

On the district level, Ford has been an NED chairman, secretary and the district director of Juniors. She also is a member and the current president of Holborn Herb Growers Guild.

She is a member of the board of the Western Reserve Village and serves on its history committee. A master gardener, Ford volunteers as a tour guide at Fellows Riverside Gardens. She also belongs to the Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society.

Ford and her husband, Carl, and children Michael and Christina reside in Poland.

GFWC members are community leaders who work locally to create global change by supporting the arts, preserving natural resources, advancing education, promoting healthful lifestyles and encouraging civic involvement while working toward world peace and understanding.

The Junior clubs will follow the GFWC special project of advocates for children, and the OFWC theme will be “A Thyme to Plant, a Time to Grow.”
