Elizabeth Thompson had 26 assists, 12 points, five blocks, and five kills to lead Springfield to a five set victory. Kasey Kohler had 12 kills, six blocks, and five points for the Tigers (4-2, 2-0). Bri Cope led the Rebels with 38 assists, 15 points, 11 digs, and a pair of aces. JV: Springfield 2-1.

Carrollton 27-25-16-25, West Branch 25-20-25-17

CARROLLTON

Sydney Townes had 29 digs and 24 kills for West Branch in a losing effort to Carrollton. Whitney Wallace chipped in with 16 points and 10 kills for the Warriors (2-2, 1-1). JV: Carrollton 2-1.

Boys Soccer

Boardman 3, Cardinal Mooney 1

BOARDMAN

Zack Smotzer scored twice in Boardman’s win over Cardinal Mooney. Zack Stamp converted a penalty kick and assisted on one of Smotzer’s goals for the Spartans (3-1). Mooney got on the board thanks to an own goal from Boardman. Dustin Houdak had six saves in net, while Brian Fryda had five.

Jocelyn Koziorynsky had a goal and an assist, Emily Rosen scored a goal and Emma Linnen scored for Struthers. Maria Pizzulo had a goal and Alexia Paige-Boyd recorded five saves for Girard.
