Motorcyclist injured

A motorcycle accident at Beatty and Sheakleyville Greenville roads sent one man to the hospital with injuries Friday night. The accident, which happened about 7:15 p.m., did not involve any other vehicles, according to the Mercer County dispatch center. The victim was sent to the Greenville campus of UPMC hospital. Mercer County dispatch did not have information about the extent of injuries.

Crashed into house

SALEM

A driver crashed his vehicle into a house in Salem just before noon Friday, a dispatcher with the Salem Fire Department said. Investigators believe the man might have been suffering from a medical condition, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a house on Howard Street. The man was injured, but not seriously, fire officials said. The crash cracked the foundation of the house and damaged the siding.

Arrested in shooting

WARREN

City police arrested a man Thursday after the suspect purportedly shot another man during a fight at Clermont Avenue, according to Vindicator news partner 21 WFMJ-TV. Jeffrey Stone, 37, of Newton Falls, was arrested after his 48-year-old roommate of Warren was found in a neighbor’s driveway with a gunshot wound to the stomach. Stone fled the scene on a motorcycle, threw his gun into the Mahoning River and struggled with police before being arrested, police said.

Stone faces charges of felonious assault, fleeing and eluding police, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon and tampering with evidence.

The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

DUI with child

CORTLAND

A Cortland woman arrested on charges of driving drunk with a 2-year-old child in the car is free on bond after appearing in court Friday, according to Vindicator news partner 21 WFMJ-TV.

Sarah Latimer, 20, of Cortland, was arrested Wednesday night near state Route 5 after another driver called to report a Dodge Neon driving recklessly. The witness said the car ran off the roadway, then stopped in a parking lot, where the witness removed the keys from the vehicle.

After Bazetta Township police responded to the incident, Latimer was charged with driving under the influence, endangering children, offenses involving underage persons and being in violation of the child-restraint law.

She pleaded not guilty in Central District Court Friday. The judge forbade her from driving, pending her next court appearance.

Crash into tree

YOUNGSTOWN

A car crashed into a tree on Firnley Avenue near West Boston Avenue on Friday afternoon, Youngstown police said.

The accident, which happened just before 4 p.m., involved one vehicle and sent the driver to the hospital.

Youngstown police said the driver was not ejected from the vehicle and had to be extracted by mechanical means. They did not have information about the extent of injuries.
