Scrappers fall to Jammers, 2-1

— Jamestown's Tyler Filliben picked a fine time for his first home run of the season.

Filliben broke an eighth-inning tie with a solo homer off Mahoning Valley reliever Justin Garcia and the Jammers beat the Scrappers, 2-1, on Thursday night at Eastwood Field.

Garcia (3-2) took the loss. Mahoning Valleu starter Casey Shane worked the first six innings and allowed a run on three hits. Luke Eubank worked a scoreless ninth.

Jose Regalado (6-3) pitched 3 1/3 innings of relief for the victory. He allowed the Scrappers' only run in the fifth inning when Steven Patterson singled, stole second and took third on a throwing error. Patterson then scored when Regalado threw a wild pitch.

But that was all the scoring Mahoning Valley could muster. The Scrappers outhit the Jammers, 5-4, but left 10 runners on base.

Jordan Luplow's RBI single in the third inning off Shane gave Jamestown (33-38) a 1-0 lead.

The Scrappers (31-40) will begin their final home series of the season, against the Auburn Doubledays (32-39), at 7:05 tonight.
