A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Aug. 20

Theft: An East Park Avenue man discovered at least $440 had been removed from his bank account via five unauthorized withdrawals.

Aug. 21

Drugs: Daniel Lesky, 49, of Buena Vista Drive, Hubbard, was charged with drug possession and one felony count of theft of dangerous drugs after police alleged he had in a duffel bag a bottle of pills mixed with other medications for which he had no prescription. Lesky also was wanted on a township warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on criminal-trespassing and domestic-violence charges.

Theft: A Tamarack Drive woman reported that $4,000 was never placed into an escrow account.

LIBERTY

Aug. 19

Arrest: Authorities’ investigation of two phony $50 bills having been passed at a Belmont Avenue gas station led them to a nearby motel, where they charged 58-year-old Yesod H. Waaboo with obstructing official business. The Colorado Springs, Colo., woman refused several times to provide personal information, which hampered the investigation, a report said.

Aug. 20

Arrest: Tajuana R. Deleon, 39, of Covington Street, Youngstown, was arrested at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. She was wanted on a township warrant.

Criminal damaging: A man in his 20s reportedly damaged a TV frame and a door to a room at a Belmont Avenue motel.

Identity fraud: A Santa Monica Drive man discovered someone had hacked into his bank accounts and removed a total of about $11,385.

Criminal damaging: A Frederick Street woman reported that a 38-year-old Youngstown man pounded and banged on her apartment door, damaging it.

Trespassing: Police and firefighters responded to a fire at the vacant Travel Lodge motel, 1610 Motor Inn Drive, where they charged Edward R. Griffin of Center Street Northeast, Warren, with criminal trespassing. A receipt showed the 55-year-old man had been staying at the motel since Aug. 15; also, he was told to stay off the property and denied any knowledge of the fire, a report showed.

Aug. 21

Harassment: A Warner Road woman said she’s received two months’ worth of harassing and annoying text messages.

Theft: A Townsend Avenue woman alleged a Youngstown man, 27, stole a 42-inch flat-screen TV, 100 DVDs and $30 while staying at her home. The loss came to $1,430.

Theft: An official with Talmer Bank and Trust, 4682 Belmont Ave., told authorities a 32-year-old woman cashed a $1,895.64 fraudulent check, one of eight such checks she was accused of having cashed.

Aug. 22

Arrest: Officers arrested Jason L. Ifft, 37, of Homestead Drive, Liberty, on an Austintown warrant. Also, a charge of obstructing official business was pending against a 37-year-old Austintown woman who authorities alleged had taken Ifft to her residence knowing he was wanted by police.

Drugs: Authorities received a tip about a wanted person at a Motor Inn Drive motel, where they took into custody Nicholas A. Gianfrancesco of North Belle Vista Avenue, Youngstown. The 24-year-old Gianfrancesco was wanted on a felony narcotics charge.

Vandalism: Someone at Liberty Township Park, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, struck a restroom mirror and a porcelain sink with a brick, resulting in $250 worth of damage.

Aug. 23

Arrest: Police responded to a possible disturbance at a Belmont Avenue motel, then arrested 32-year-old Joseph J. Hardy of West Glenaven Avenue, Youngstown. He was wanted on a Boardman Township warrant charging domestic violence.

Menacing: A Hadley Avenue woman reported two women threatened her as the accuser walked near Colonial Drive.

Robbery: A woman in the 1600 block of East Liberty Street alleged her 21-year-old boyfriend threw her to the ground and struck her multiple times in the face and body before forcibly removing a pocketbook from her purse as she walked to a Belmont Avenue restaurant.

Aug. 24

Attempted burglary: Someone cut and dislodged a window screen in an effort to break into a residence in the 4900 block of Logan Way, but no entry was made.

Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed 38-year-old Alicia M. Gibson to township authorities. Gibson, of Rose Avenue, Girard, was wanted on a township warrant charging robbery.

Drugs: Authorities answered a distress call at a Motor Inn Drive motel, where they took into custody 34-year-old Stacy M. Walker on a charge of possession of drug-abuse instruments after saying Walker, of Lakewood Drive, Youngstown, admitted having a hypodermic syringe in a bag.

Theft by deception: A Struthers woman trying to activate a cellphone learned that it was stolen before reporting that a man in his 20s had sold the item to her for $200 while in the 3600 block of Belmont Avenue.

Arrest: Police on state Route 304 picked up Ebony Smith, 35, of Megan Circle, Liberty, on a township warrant. Smith was accused of failing to appear in court to face a theft charge.

Aug. 25

Identity fraud: An elderly Denver Drive woman reported having received a letter, supposedly from the Ohio Department of Taxation, claiming her 2013 income-tax return was under review, even though she had never filed such a return.

Theft: Samuel G. McCullock, 18, and Iniki N. Jointer, 21, both of Early Road, Youngstown, were charged in the theft of $50 worth of merchandise from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. McCullock also was charged with obstructing official business when, police said, he provided a false name and date of birth.

Aug. 26

Arrest: Officers responded to a report of someone having fallen off a motorcycle near Roosevelt and Northview drives before arresting 46-year-old Albert S. Cochran of Roosevelt, Liberty, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

GIRARD

Aug. 23

Harassment: A Hazel Avenue woman said her former boyfriend posted a derogatory video and comments about her on Facebook.

Theft: A North Ward Avenue woman told police two people claiming their water service had been shut off tricked her into giving them $36 and a $60 check.

Aug. 24

Arrest: Springfield Township police handed 25-year-old Randy L. Estep to city authorities. Estep, of North Avenue, Girard, was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Theft: A South Davis Street man alleged a neighbor likely stole water from the accuser’s residence.

Aug. 25

Arrest: Police took into custody 20-year-old Kassandra Morrison at her East Liberty Street home upon learning the Girard woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Theft by deception: A Steel Street man who had found a job online told police that a Tucson, Ariz., business owner sent him three checks totaling $11,400 that he discovered were counterfeit. The accuser also had been asked to wire $15,300 from his account, though he lost no money.

Trespassing: A Washington Avenue woman reported three juveniles, including a 14-year-old girl, refused to stay off her property.

Theft: Several credit cards and a wallet were removed from a vehicle in the 400 block of Church Hill Road.

Theft: A man reported a $704 cellphone he had rented was missing from his North State Street home.

Theft: The manager of a Church Hill Road business alleged a former employee failed to return two security tools, a cellphone and $270 by an agreed-upon date.
