As part of its continuing summer series of events, Boardman Park hosted Family Night in the Park on Aug. 9 at the Maag Outdoor Arts Theatre.

Event organizers expected 500-700 people to attend.

“Boardman Park is committed to providing various family services through our valley through a diversity of programming,” Boardman Park recreation director Karen McCallum said. “This free event is designed to bring kids and their parents together for a fun evening of family-friendly activities, including wagon rides, bounce-a-rounds, face painting, live music and a movie are among the activities planned.”

Porgie the Clown also made an appearance, with The Rage providing live music and the movie “Despicable Me 2” being shown.

McCallum said she felt the event came off well.

“Always very positive about doing family programing,” she said.
