Girls golf victory

The Austintown Fitch girls golf team recently defeated Ashtabula Edgewood at Village Green Golf Course with a score of 193- 256. Top players for Austintown included Rebeca Castillo (43), Jamie Rasor (44), Sam Tofil (48) and Cheyenne Grove (58)

Scholarship golf outing to be Sept. 20

The Parole Officer and Sigma Chi Eddie Cantor Second Annual Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing will take place on Sept. 20 at Knoll Run Golf Course, located at 1421 Coitsville Road in Lowellville. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The cost is $65 per person and includes golf, a cart for two, doughnuts, lunch, dinner and skills contests. Sponsorships are available at $100 for the Silver Hole Sponsor (advertised on tee box), $300 for the Gold Sponsor (signage and tee box) and $500 for the Elite Sponsor (One team and all signage). Send golf registration and sponsorship request with check made payable to the Ed Canto Memorial Scholarship Fund to Rosemary Jones - Chairperson, 4510 Nantucket Dr., Apt. 6, Youngstown, OH 44515. Respond by Sept. 1. Reservations are limited and are on a first-come, first-paid basis.

Fitch girls defeated

The Austintown Fitch girls volleyball team lost to Poland 3-2 with scores of 25-16, 27-25, 21-25, 22-25 and 12-15 on Aug. 20. Top players for Fitch included Sarah Obradovich (11 points, six aces), Alex Conners (12 points, four aces), Sarah Obradovich (47 attempts, 20 kills), Katarina Lewis (38 attempts, 19 assists), Sarah Obradovich (17 digs), Alex Conners (29 receptions, 11 digs) and Andrea Fitzgerald (four blocks).

It’s fall sports season. Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a summer sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need you help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages. We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.
