Man faces charge of vandalizing door

YOUNGSTOWN

A Berlin Center man was arraigned in municipal court Wednesday on a felony vandalism charge for damaging a door at the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center Tuesday, after he was told several times he could not wear a hat inside the waiting area.

Joseph Blaede, 36, also faces a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest after reports from Mahoning County deputies said he resisted efforts to be handcuffed. Reports said Blaede came inside the building for a hearing and was asked to remove his hat, and he did. He put it on and was asked to remove it, and he did, then put it on a third time and asked to remove it.

He got up and walked out the door but opened it hard and broke a piece worth $200, reports said. He ignored several orders to stop in the parking lot, got into his car and would not come out. Deputies managed to get him out of the car.

His bond was set at 10 percent of $3,500 Wednesday.
